This is an old and historic building full of character with some surprises. If you enjoy the countryside, great food and good company this is the place to come. We are a Tearoom with delicious home baking and also a licensed restaurant that offers fantastic fresh food, combining many great flavours together. Why not order a glass of wine from our in house selection to accompany your meal. We are looking forward to seeing you soon.
The Tearoom itself is very well known. It was originally built in 1923 as a meeting point for cyclists. This prompted it to be featured as a location in the 1959 version of The 39 Steps’ with Kenneth More.
Over the years it has been loved by locals and tourists alike. It was closed for two years till we found it and fell in love with it. We gave it a scrub and a lick of paint, a new kitchen and some music; a bit of attitude (that’s me) and a very gifted chef (that’s my husband) and re-opened the doors in April 2011. So here we are now in 2016, just opened for the season with a fantastic new menu. Please pop in and see us.
We are still open:-
